As a revered animal and one very important to Egyptian society and religion, Felis Bastet was afforded the same mummification after death as humans were. The Felis Bastet set the way for the importance of the cat in Egyptian society and art. Bastet was the goddess of joy and the deity representing protection, fertility, and motherhood.
This sculpture of the Egyptian cat Felis Bastet, designed by Ivo Bergmeister, is based on the Egyptian sculpture from the 6/7 century B.C. that was sacred to all Egyptians.
The new edition of the Egyptian sculpture Felis Bastet is both strong and majestic and like the art of Egypt is timeless.
